Seven years after moving to
Opatija's Summer Stage, the Liburnia Film Festival returns for one day to the
place where it all began - to the harbor in Ičići.
On the 20th anniversary of the
only Croatian documentary film festival, on Friday, August 19, films will again
be shown on the screen in the port of Ičići:
- the winner of the first Liburnia Film Festival "Patchwork" by Tanja Miličić and
- the winner of last year's Beldocs "Bez" by Luka Papić,
- then followed by a concert by the post punk rock band ŠIZA.
Just a few days before the
start of the round edition of the LFF, which will be held from August 24 to 28
at the Summer Stage in Opatija, as an introduction to the celebratory festival
edition, "Return to Ičiće" will follow, which will be somewhat
nostalgic, celebratory, with a punk-rock concert and rounded off by excellent
documentaries.
The organizers, as well as the
audience, remember the moments from the port of Ičići, which for 13 years
hosted the Liburnia Film Festival, a festival of Croatian documentary films. In 20 years, everything has
changed, but the core of the festival has remained the same - to provide a
platform for exchange, socializing and good fun.
And the post punk-rock duo
ŠIZA, consisting of Marko Kuhar and Branko Antolić, previously known for many
years of activity on the independent scene through the bands Overflow, OSA,
Rens Argoa, Suho Grlo Nos and Letarg, will provide good entertainment.
"Dignity from the little finger is lost in the middle" is the title of
their debut album from 2021, whose song "Sorry, sorry, sorry" is
currently in the final round for the Milan Mladenović Award, which is awarded
to authors and performers from the area of all the former Yugoslavia
republic.
This summer they have several gigs (InMusic, Rock&off tour in
Ozalj and Knin) where they showed that they "sound like a wild
machine", "burn up on stage" and "are one of those bands
you can't go wrong with". The band arrives in Ičići as part of the Rock&off
tour. The evening will begin with
two documentaries. The winner of the first LFF, the award-winning documentary
film "Patchwork" by author Tanja Miličić from 2003, and the winner of
last year's 15th Beldocs film "Bez" by Luka Papić (best Serbian
film). Both films provide the social, political and emotional context of the
times in which they were filmed, and whose protagonists are in search of their
own identity.
The return to Ičići begins
with screenings at 8:30 p.m.
Entrance is free. The films are titled in
english.
The supporters of "Return
to Ičići" are:
The Tourist Board of Ičići,
the City of Opatija and the Consulate General of the Republic of Serbia in
